About
After graduating from DSU in 2013, my guitar teaching career spans over a decade of private instruction, university-level adjunct teaching, and my current full-time faculty position at Vista School.
I love teaching, performing, and especially writing and arranging music. I have a passion for finding and/or creating music that is both accessible and enjoyable for new students. I've found that when I help students learn the music that they love, they don't need to be asked to practice - they do it instinctively. I created www.FreeGuitarMusic.net in order to provide students with quick and easy access to fun and accessible sheet music and tabs.
At the same time, I understand that some foundational work will pay HUGE dividends later on. For that reason, I do my best to gradually help students develop their ability to read music, switch cleanly between chords, improvise solos, and create their own music. When my students come across performance opportunities, I want them to be able to confidently say "Yes!"
In addition to teaching private lessons, I recently started offering 12 week courses for groups of students, each one focusing on a specific area of music. My next ones will open in September of 2026. Some of the classes I'll be offering are:
"After school Jam - Level 1" which focuses on playing the basics of rock instruments like drums, keys, guitar, and bass. (Grades 6-10)
"After school Jam - Level 2" which will operate more like a "school of rock" style class, where we choose some songs and put on a concert. (Grades 6-10)
"Beginning Piano Class" for young students (Grades 2-6)
"Beginning Guitar Class" for young students (Grades 4-8)
"Advanced Guitar Class" for students with some prior guitar experience. We'll focus on improvisation, jamming, barre chords at various levels, and playing while singing. (grades 6-10)
In addition to teaching, I love writing and publishing music. I fortunate enough to do some arrangements for Hal Leonard Inc. in the early 2020's, and I've been writing and publishing my own music an Amazon since 2019.
My best selling books are my chord training books, and my fingerstyle solos books, which give new and intermediate players some beautiful stand-alone guitar music. My author profile, and my list of created works, can be found here.
I'm excited to hear from those interested in getting started with guitar or piano lessons. Give me a call and I'll see what I can do to get you set up. Thanks!

Fingerstyle Solos

"Oh, you are learning to play the guitar? Can you play me something?" Like many new guitar players, you might find yourself freezing up when asked to play what you've been learning. Sure, you may know a few licks from some of your favorite songs, but perhaps nothing that sounds complete with just you and a guitar. "Fingerstyle Solos: Deluxe Compilation" is collection of 50 fingerstyle songs with varying styles and varying levels of complexity that are designed to make you sound amazing, even if you're relatively new to the guitar. This book is perfect for students, teachers, or anyone with a basic understanding of tablature and sheet music who wants more material to play for performances, small gatherings, or just for their own enjoyment. The 50 songs are a compilation of the songs from Isaac Gish's Fingerstyle Solos Series.
